These boys got game

Basketball season is over for most of the teams in our area, but there are still games being played in both Fauquier and Culpeper Rec Leagues. Two of RCES’ own Junior Panther’s, Dylan and Evan Hitt, are among those that are still playing ball. Their team played on March 15 for a spot in the Warrenton Youth Sports Club Championship. "The TEAM" as they call themselves, consists of the Hitt boys; a former RCES student Drew Downey, John Riley, Troy Cherry, Grant Buxton, Bailey Loving, Jeremy Robinson and Bobby Chiccehitto. Their coaches are Jeff Riley, former Athletic Director of George Mason University and Amy Hitt. Jeff has been coaching Dylan & Evan since they were 6 years old when they started in the Warrenton Rec League; formerly known as the Warrenton Optimist Club.  Their record is 6-1, with their only loss coming in the middle of the season. This past Saturday "The TEAM" secured their spot for second place with a win over a very strong defensive opponent. With Coach Riley away, Coach Hitt had to fill his shoes and she led the boys to a 34-15 victory. Drew is the teams leading scorer with a total of 92 points this season  Dylan who plays forward and point guard has 50 and Evan who is the teams lead point guard has 40 points. The WYSC is a great program to learn the game of basketball. The Team will be involved in Championship Saturday on March 22 at Wakefield in The Plains
