Shaking up the CCLC Fall Auction

In keeping with the times, the organizers of the Child Care and Learning Center (CCLC) Nov. 8 fundraiser have decided to make changes too.

This year in addition to the live and silent auctions, they are featuring the Painted Porch - a cheerful collection of old and not-so-old cottage style furniture painted in vibrant colors together with vintage furniture painted white.

The fundraiser begins at 5:30 p.m. at the former Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue in the Town of Washington.

For readers who are new to the area, the CCLC is a fully accredited preschool, day care and after school program for children. It provides a high quality early childhood program - as one grateful parent said, “ a Cadillac program at Kia prices” - and this is possible because of a group of hardworking volunteers who work year round to raise money for the Fall Auction.

There are currently 69 children enrolled and 23 receive some form of scholarship. Financial aid is based upon household income and funded from the cash donations and proceeds of the Fall Auction. In addition the money raised helps CCLC maintain and keep up its buildings and grounds and provide on-going training for the staff.

The fundraising event is a fun and relaxed evening with supper, wine and beer, and great company and you can be sure to find some wonderful bargains while providing crucial support for a great cause. Please mark your calendars for Nov. 8 and be sure to attend.
