Vallie V. Butler

Died June 13, 2008

Woodville resident

Vallie Virginia Corbin Butler, 92, of Woodville died June 13.

A lifelong resident of Rappahannock County, she was born on October 28, 1915, the first child of the late June Madison Corbin and the late May Eleanor Corbin.

Mrs. Butler spent her childhood in Woodville where she met her husband, James Ashby Butler. They were married in 1933. She was a member of Five Forks Baptist Church.

She enjoyed excellent health until recently. She loved gardening, cooking, and entertaining friends and family. Norma Holt, Mrs. Butlers friend and companion, came in her home in 1985 and became a part of the family.

She was blessed with a wonderful daughter, Josephine Butler Vest, and a loving son-in-law, Rodney Vest.

Additional survivors include two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Estelle Howard and Pearl Hawkins.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Beard.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel in Culpeper with Pastor Jeff Light officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Sperryville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dick Butler, Rick Kohne, Steve Hawkins, Tim Falls, Daniel Norman and Richard Burke.

An on-line guest book is available at www.foundandsons.com.
