Chester Gap resident

Gene Autry Wines, 69, of Chester Gap, died June 30 at his residence.

Mr. Wines was born April 28, 1939, in Chester Gap, son of the late John F. and Addie Williams Wines.

He was a carpenter.

Mr. Wines is survived by his wife of 45 years Barbara L. Wines; five daughters Virgina Bradley, Jeannie Grigsby, and Bobbie Jo Lake all of Chester Gap; Susie Wines and Rachel Wines-Chapman, both of Front Royal; and a son John Eugene Wines of Chester Gap.

Additional survivors include four sisters Evelyn Hickerson, Eulice Frazier, Patsy Robinson, Geneva Elkins; a brother Willie Gardner Wines; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Noah Wines.

Pallbearers were John Grigsby, Sr., Tommy Grigsby, Steve Bradley, Wayne Lake, Mark Wines, and Buck Williams.

Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Robinson, Billy Wines, Roger Wines, Tommy Williams, Sonny Williams, and Danny Hickerson.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, conducted by Pastor David Sterling.

Interment will follow in Williams Family Cemetery in Chester Gap.
